Ingredients
Scale
Cheese
- 10 oz Brie, room temperature
Bread
- Ciabatta, sliced and cut diagonally
- Olive oil, for drizzling
- Garlic herb bread seasoning (such as The Spice Hunter), to taste
- Smoked paprika, to taste
- Pinch of salt
Topping
- Cane sugar, for brûlée topping
Instructions
- Prepare the Brie: Remove the rind from the Brie cheese, then cube the cheese and place it in a large mixing bowl.
- Whip the Brie: Using a mixer or whisk, whip the Brie until it becomes smooth and creamy. This process may take a few minutes, so be patient to achieve a fully whipped texture.
- Transfer to baking dish: Spoon the whipped Brie into a suitable baking dish and cover it with foil to keep it moist during baking.
- Season the bread: Drizzle olive oil over the ciabatta slices, then sprinkle garlic herb seasoning, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt over the bread to infuse flavor.
- Bake Brie and toast bread: Place both the covered whipped Brie and the seasoned bread into a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C). Bake for 10-12 minutes to warm the Brie and toast the bread.
- Brûlée the Brie: Carefully remove the foil from the Brie. Evenly sprinkle a layer of cane sugar over the top of the warmed Brie. Using a blow torch, caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy, golden crust. Alternatively, you can skip the initial baking of the Brie, add sugar directly, and broil for 2-3 minutes until the sugar crust forms.
Notes
- Ensure Brie is softened to room temperature before whipping for smoother texture.
- You can use a kitchen blender or hand mixer to whip the Brie thoroughly.
- Drizzling olive oil and seasoning the bread brings out complementary flavors and balances the richness of the Brie.
- If you don’t have a blow torch, broiling the sugar-topped Brie under high heat works well but watch closely to avoid burning.
- Serve immediately while the topping is crisp and the Brie warm and creamy.
