Ingredients
Scale
Rice
- 2 Cups Sushi Rice (Cooked and Seasoned)
Fillings
- 100 grams Smoked Salmon (Chopped, ½ cup)
- ½ cup Cucumber (Deseeded and finely diced)
- 100 grams Cream Cheese (Cubed)
For Garnish
- Sesame Seeds (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Prepare the Sushi Rice: Cook and season your sushi rice using your preferred method, either stovetop or Instant Pot, then allow it to cool completely to room temperature.
- Prepare the Fillings: Cut the cream cheese into 1cm cubes. Slice the cucumber in half lengthwise and deseed it using a spoon. Then slice the cucumber into long batons and finely dice. Dice the smoked salmon into small pieces.
- Mix the Ingredients: Add the cooled sushi rice to a large mixing bowl along with the diced cucumber and chopped smoked salmon. Gently mix the ingredients to evenly distribute the fillings throughout the rice without mashing it.
- Shape the Sushi Balls: Take a spoonful of the rice mixture, place one cube of cream cheese in the center, then cover it with another spoonful of rice mixture. Carefully shape the mixture into a compact ball with your hands, ensuring the cream cheese is enclosed inside.
- Garnish and Chill: Lightly sprinkle the sushi balls with sesame seeds to add texture and flavor. Place them in the refrigerator to chill until ready to serve.
- Serve: Enjoy the sushi balls chilled as a delightful appetizer or snack.
Notes
- Make sure the sushi rice is fully cooled before mixing to prevent it from becoming too sticky.
- You can substitute smoked salmon with cooked shrimp or vegetables for a different filling.
- Use fresh cream cheese for the best texture and flavor.
- Chilling the sushi balls helps them firm up and makes handling easier.
- These sushi balls are best consumed within 24 hours for optimal freshness.
