Strawberry Christmas Trees Recipe

  • Author: Aiden
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 18 strawberry Christmas trees 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These festive Strawberry Christmas Trees are a delightful holiday treat combining fresh, juicy strawberries dipped in rich dark green candy melts, placed atop frosted oatmeal cookies, and decorated with colorful nonpareils and yellow star candies. Perfect as a fun, easy-to-make dessert or party snack to brighten your holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries (about 18 large strawberries plus extra)

Chocolate Coating

  • 24 ounces dark green candy melts (two 12-ounce packages)

Base and Decorations

  • 18 frosted oatmeal cookies
  • ¼ cup multi-colored nonpareils
  • 18 yellow star candies

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Rinse the strawberries and gently pat them dry. Slice off the base of each strawberry to remove the stem, creating a flat bottom that will serve as the base of your strawberry tree.
  2. Melt Candy: Place the candy melts in the top pan of a double boiler. Heat over simmering water, stirring frequently until the candy melts into a smooth consistency. Remove from heat and dry the bottom of the pan to avoid water contamination.
  3. Dip Strawberries: Using a toothpick or fork, carefully dip each strawberry into the melted candy mixture, ensuring it is well-coated. Gently tap off any excess candy to avoid dripping.
  4. Assemble on Cookies: Use a second fork to lift the dipped strawberry and place it carefully at the center of each frosted oatmeal cookie. Optionally, add a small dollop of melted candy on the cookie center before placing the strawberry to help it stick better.
  5. Decorate Trees: While the candy coating is still wet, sprinkle multi-colored nonpareils over the dipped strawberry to mimic ornaments and place a yellow star candy on top to complete the Christmas tree look.
  6. Reheat as Needed: Reheat the candy melts as needed to maintain a dippable consistency throughout the decorating process.

Notes

  • Make sure strawberries are completely dry before dipping in candy melts to ensure proper coating adhesion.
  • If candy melts begin to thicken, gently reheat using the double boiler method to restore smoothness.
  • The frosted oatmeal cookies provide a sturdy and tasty base that complements the strawberries and candy coating.
  • These treats are best enjoyed the same day they are made to prevent sogginess.
  • For a different look, you can use white or red candy melts instead of green.
