Pretzel Bark Recipe

  • Author: Aiden
  • Total Time: 1 hour (including chilling time)
  • Yield: Approximately 20-24 pieces 1x

Description

Pretzel Bark is a delightful treat combining the rich smoothness of melted semi-sweet chocolate with crunchy mini pretzel twists, drizzled with sweet caramel and finished with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt for the perfect balance of flavors and textures. This easy-to-make no-bake dessert is perfect for snacking, gifting, or sharing at parties.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate

  • 12 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Pretzels

  • 8 ounces mini pretzel twists (half of a regular 16-ounce bag)

Caramel

  • 11 ounce bag Kraft Caramel Bits (or homemade caramel)
  • 2 tablespoons water (for melting caramel)

Finishing

  • Flake finishing salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow easy removal of the bark once set.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Place 8 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt gently in the microwave on low heat, stirring every 15 seconds, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  3. Spread Chocolate & Add Pretzels: Pour and spread the melted chocolate evenly over the prepared parchment paper. Immediately scatter the mini pretzel twists on top, allowing some to overlap slightly. Press them gently into the chocolate to ensure they stick.
  4. Melt Caramel: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramel bits with 2 tablespoons of water. Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until melted, stirring well to create a smooth caramel sauce.
  5. Drizzle Caramel: Drizzle the melted caramel evenly over the pretzels laid on the chocolate bark.
  6. Add Remaining Chocolate: Melt the remaining 4 ounces of chocolate chips as before. Drizzle this melted chocolate over the caramel layer to form a decorative topping.
  7. Sprinkle Salt: Sprinkle flake finishing salt over the top to enhance the flavors with a touch of savory crunch.
  8. Set and Serve: Refrigerate the baking sheet until the bark is completely set and firm, about 30-45 minutes. Once solid, cut or tear the bark into pieces and enjoy.

Notes

  • For best results, use quality semi-sweet chocolate and fresh pretzels for maximum crunch.
  • If you prefer homemade caramel, ensure it is soft and drizzling consistency before using.
  • Store the pretzel bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • Flake finishing salt is optional but highly recommended to balance the sweetness with a salty touch.
  • Be careful not to overheat the chocolate to preserve its smooth texture and prevent burning.
