  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

This Paleo Anti-Inflammatory Hot Chocolate is a warming, nourishing beverage made with almond or coconut milk, raw cacao, and a blend of anti-inflammatory spices including cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, nutmeg, and black pepper. Naturally sweetened to taste, this drink is perfect for cozy evenings while supporting wellness.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquid Base

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk
  • 1 cup water

Spices & Flavorings

  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground ginger, to taste
  • 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon ground turmeric, to taste
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Dash of freshly ground black pepper

Sweetener (optional)

  • Stevia, maple syrup, or honey, as desired

Instructions

  1. Heat the liquids and spices: Pour the almond or coconut milk and water into a medium saucepan. Add the ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground turmeric, nutmeg, sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Gently heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes to allow the spices to infuse the liquids and release their flavors.
  2. Add cacao powder: Stir in the raw cacao powder until it is fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth and well combined. Continue heating gently to maintain warmth.
  3. Sweeten to taste: Add your choice of sweetener, such as stevia, maple syrup, or honey, adjusting the amount according to your preferred level of sweetness. Stir well to blend.
  4. Froth and serve: Optionally, whisk the hot chocolate vigorously with a whisk or use a milk frother to create a light froth on the surface. Pour into mugs and serve immediately for the best taste and warming effect.

Notes

  • This recipe allows a variable amount of ginger and turmeric to suit your taste; start with the lesser amounts and increase if you prefer a stronger anti-inflammatory spice kick.
  • Nutrition values are based on using almond milk without any added sweetener.
