Description

These Orange Chocolate Brownie Bites are a delightful twist on classic brownies, combining rich cocoa and zesty orange flavor in bite-sized form. Perfectly moist and topped with a creamy chocolate-orange frosting and a mini mandarin orange slice, they make a delicious treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Bites

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon orange extract
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Chocolate Orange Frosting

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2/3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 24 tablespoons milk
  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare your baking pans by spraying a 24-cup mini-muffin pan or a 12-cup muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray to ensure the brownie bites don’t stick.
  2. Melt Butter and Mix Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, gently melt the 10 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in 1 cup granulated sugar, ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, ½ teaspoon orange extract, and ¾ teaspoon salt. Once combined, remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs and Flour: Quickly whisk in 2 large eggs until well incorporated. Then add ½ cup all-purpose flour and stir until mostly combined. Fold in ½ cup mini chocolate chips if using, stirring until no flour streaks remain.
  4. Fill Muffin Tins and Bake: Spoon the batter evenly into the prepared muffin tins. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes if using the 24-cup mini-muffin pan, or 15 to 20 minutes if using the 12-cup muffin pan. The brownies are ready when set and tops are cracked and shiny.
  5. Cool Brownie Bites: Let the brownie bites cool in the pans on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Use the tip of a knife to carefully loosen them from the pan, then transfer to the wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Prepare Chocolate Orange Frosting: In a large heatproof bowl, microwave 10 tablespoons unsalted butter with 2/3 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder until the butter is melted. Beat with a hand mixer until smooth. Add 1 teaspoon orange extract and 2 to 4 tablespoons milk, stirring well.
  7. Add Confectioners’ Sugar: Gradually add 3 cups confectioners’ sugar, stirring slowly to incorporate. Then beat on medium speed for about 1 minute until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
  8. Frost and Decorate: Immediately frost the cooled brownie bites with the chocolate orange frosting. Garnish each with a mini mandarin orange slice for a fresh, decorative touch.
  9. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the brownie bites at room temperature and enjoy the perfect combination of rich chocolate and bright orange flavors in every bite.

Notes

  • Mini chocolate chips are optional but add extra chocolatey goodness.
  • For best frosting consistency, add milk gradually to achieve desired thickness.
  • Use fresh mini mandarin orange slices for a vibrant garnish.
  • Store frosted brownie bites covered at room temperature for up to one day.
  • Make sure to let brownies cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
