Ingredients
Scale
Cookie Balls
- 14.3 oz package (36 cookies) Oreos, crushed into crumbs
- 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
Antennae
- 30 mini pretzel sticks, broken in half
- 2 oz white candy coating (optional)
- Heart sprinkles (red and pink)
Coating and Decoration
- 10 oz red candy coating
- 56–60 eyeball candies
Instructions
- Crush Oreos: Add the Oreo cookies to a food processor or blender and crush them into fine crumbs.
- Mix Cream Cheese and Crumbs: In a bowl, combine the crushed Oreo crumbs with the room temperature cream cheese, mixing until well combined and able to form balls easily.
- Form Balls: Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture per ball and roll into approximately 1-inch sized balls.
- Chill Balls: Place the formed balls in the refrigerator for about 1 hour to firm up for easier dipping.
- Prepare Antennae: Break each pretzel stick in half. If using white candy coating, melt it and dip each pretzel half into the coating, then place them on parchment paper to dry. Attach heart sprinkles on top using a small amount of the melted candy coating or red candy coating, then allow to set. If skipping the white coating, use melted red candy coating to attach the hearts and let dry.
- Dip Balls in Red Coating: Melt the red candy coating. Insert a toothpick gently into the back of each chilled ball and dip into the melted candy coating. Lightly shake off excess coating and place on parchment paper. Twist the toothpick gently while pulling it out and use a dab of candy coating to fill in the hole.
- Attach Antennae: Quickly insert the pretzel halves into the top of the coated cookie balls to serve as antennae, holding briefly until set as the red candy coating dries fast.
- Add Eyes and Mouth: Use extra melted candy coating to adhere the eyeball candies and heart sprinkles on the front of the balls to form the face and mouth.
- Store: Keep the completed cookie balls refrigerated. They will stay fresh for up to 1 week.
Notes
- If the cookie balls are chilled for longer than an hour before dipping, allow them to warm slightly to prevent the candy coating from hardening too quickly during dipping.
- Using a toothpick to dip makes it easier to handle the balls and fill in the holes afterward.
- Heart sprinkles and candy eyeballs can be substituted with other small decorations for different themes.
- Store the cookie balls in an airtight container in the fridge to maintain freshness.
