  • 1 cup light brown sugar

  • 1 Tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons coarse black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan, whisk together all of the ingredients until well combined and the mixture is smooth.
  2. Heat to Boil: Place the saucepan over medium heat and whisk frequently as the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Simmer and Thicken: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Stir occasionally while it thickens and becomes smooth.
  4. Cool the Sauce: Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the barbecue sauce to cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools down.

  • The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container.
  • Adjust the cayenne pepper to modify the heat level according to your taste preferences.
