Ingredients
Scale
Base Mix
- 3 cups Chex cereal (any flavor of your choice)
- 2 cups Bugles (original or caramel flavor)
- 2 cups pretzels (regular or twists)
Sugar Coating
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Mix-Ins
- 1 cup Reese’s pieces
- 1/2 cup candy corn
- 1/2 cup candy pumpkins
- 1/2 cup mint M&M’s
- 1/4 cup candy eyeballs
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 250°F (about 120°C) and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Chex cereal, Bugles, and pretzels to create the base of your snack mix. Mix gently to distribute evenly.
- Mix Sugar Coating: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and slightly runny so it can be poured easily over the dry mix.
- Coat the Mix: Slowly pour the sugar mixture over the cereal mix, stirring constantly to ensure every piece is coated evenly with the buttery, sweet glaze.
- Bake the Mix: Spread the coated snack mix evenly on the prepared cookie sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through to prevent burning and ensure even baking. Remove and let cool completely on the cookie sheet.
- Add Candy Mix-ins: Once the snack mix has cooled, transfer it to a large bowl. Add Reese’s pieces, candy corn, candy pumpkins, mint M&M’s, and candy eyeballs. Stir well to combine all candy evenly throughout the mix.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Halloween Snack Mix immediately or store in an airtight container for later snacking during the spooky season.
Notes
- Ensure the snack mix is completely cooled before adding the candy to prevent melting.
- Feel free to substitute candies based on your preference or allergy considerations.
- This mix can be stored in an airtight container for up to one week to maintain freshness.
- To add extra flavor, consider sprinkling a pinch of cinnamon or pumpkin spice into the sugar coating mixture.
- For a less sweet version, reduce the brown sugar by a quarter cup.
