Ingredients
Scale
Base
- 1 box Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes (5 cakes)
- 3 tablespoons festive sprinkles
Coating and Decoration
- 8 ounces white chocolate or candy melts
- 3 tablespoons red candy melts (optional, for drizzling)
- Green sanding sugar for decoration
Instructions
- Prepare the cakes: Unwrap the Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes and place them in a large bowl to get ready for mixing.
- Form the dough: Use a handheld mixer to mix the cakes until a crumbly dough forms. Then mix in the festive sprinkles evenly throughout the dough.
- Shape the truffles: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and roll into balls between the palms of your hands. Place each ball onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat this process until all the dough has been formed into balls.
- Melt white chocolate: Melt the white chocolate or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl using the microwave in short intervals or a double boiler until smooth.
- Coat the truffles: Dip each chilled cake ball into the melted white chocolate using a fork or dipping tool, ensuring it is fully coated. Let the excess chocolate drip off before placing back onto the baking sheet.
- Melt red candy melts: Place the red candy melts in a piping bag or ziplock bag and microwave in 30-second increments. Massage the bag between intervals until the candy melts are completely melted and smooth for drizzling.
- Decorate the truffles: Snip the tip of the bag and drizzle the melted red candy melts over the white chocolate-coated truffles. Immediately sprinkle with green sanding sugar for a festive touch. Chill in the fridge for a few minutes to set before serving.
Notes
- Use parchment paper on the baking sheet for easy removal and clean-up.
- Chilling the truffle balls before dipping helps maintain shape and prevents melting of coatings.
- Red candy melts drizzle is optional but adds a festive look to the truffles.
- Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
