  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Indulge in these savory and addictive Blue Cheese Chips featuring crispy kettle-cooked chips topped with crumbled blue cheese, smoky bacon, and a gentle honey drizzle. Seasoned with a blend of smoked paprika, garlic powder, seasoned salt, MSG, and dried chives, this baked snack is perfect for game day or a flavorful appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Chips and Seasoning

  • 7½ oz bag unsalted kettle chips
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp MSG
  • Pinch seasoned salt
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • Dried chives to taste

Bacon and Toppings

  • 45 slices bacon
  • Blue cheese, crumbled to taste
  • Honey drizzle
  • 1 tbsp bacon grease (reserved from cooked bacon)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Bacon: Preheat your oven to 400℉ and bake the bacon slices for 12-16 minutes until they turn golden and crispy. Once done, place the bacon on paper towels to drain excess grease.
  2. Reduce Oven Temperature: Lower the oven temperature to 325℉ to prepare for baking the chips.
  3. Prepare Chips on Baking Sheet: Place the kettle chips on a baking sheet and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of the reserved bacon grease for added flavor.
  4. Mix Seasonings: In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, seasoned salt, garlic powder, MSG, and dried chives. Stir well to form a flavorful seasoning blend.
  5. Top Chips: Generously crumble blue cheese over the chips. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly on top and gently toss or mix to distribute the flavors.
  6. Bake the Chips: Place the baking sheet back into the oven and bake at 325℉ for 15-17 minutes until the cheese starts to melt and the chips are nicely infused with the spices.
  7. Finish and Serve: Roughly chop the cooked bacon and sprinkle it over the baked chips. Drizzle honey on top for a subtle sweetness and serve immediately while warm and crispy.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of blue cheese depending on your preference for cheesiness and tang.
  • Bacon grease adds great flavor to the chips; if you prefer, substitute with a little olive oil or butter.
  • Use honey sparingly if you want a less sweet contrast to the savory blue cheese and bacon.
  • For a spicier variation, add a dash of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the crisp texture, as the chips may become soggy if left to sit.
